FAQ Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and Comida Carneros

What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture is a teaming of farmers and consumers. Comida Carneros farmers, William and Rebecca, will provide weekly delivery of locally grown vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. Members of Comida Carneros invest in the farm for at least one year though financial and volunteer (optional) support.

When is the delivery/harvest season?
We operate year-round. Memberships are 12 months long, beginning with your first produce pick-up.

Where and when are the deliveries?
Deliveries are made weekly to meeting locations in Napa and St. Helena.

Napa - Tuesday afternoon and evening
St. Helena - Thursday afternoon and evening

Where is Comida Carneros?
Comida Carneros is growing on ground leased from Vine Village http://www.vinevillage.org/ and an adjoining property. This is about 1/2 mile from Napa city limits on Old Sonoma Rd.

What if I'm not familiar with some of the produce items?
Once a member, you will receive a member handbook including basic information on flavoring with the herbs and preparing each of the vegetables and fruits.
You will also receive a subscription to the Comida Carneros Newsletter, which is delivered each week with your produce. The newsletter will include recipes for the week's harvest.

What if I don't want a certain vegetable, or want less of it?
You can customize your basket each week! The produce will be set out similar to a farmer's market setting, with a list of weekly limits one each variety rather than a price list. You can take only what you want and will use.

What are the prices?
Please refer to the prices at the bottom of the previous post Membership 2009.

Are you Certified Oganic?
We use Biodynamic farming practices, which includes organic growing. While we would qualify to certify as Organic, we will not be seeking such certification as it would unnecessarily increase the farming costs, thereby raising the price of the individual shares.

We welcome any and all questions regarding our farming practices.
